Sound Effects Not Working?
If Audio Effects aren't working, or aren't working system-wide, there can be a few ways to fix it:
- Make sure no other EQ or sound effect apps are running in the background.
- Try Legacy Mode. This allows for compatibility with some devices. Go to Settings -> Equalizer Settings -> Legacy mode.
- If Legacy mode doesn't work, make sure the audio player you're using allows for equalization. Tidal and YouTube usually don't by default. In this case, you may be interested in Better Audio Detection.
Tips
- If Precise Volume worked with most apps on your phone (even YouTube) right out of the box up until you played from somewhere else like Spotify, then stopped: that means your device is probably compatible with Legacy mode.
- If you're using Better Audio Detection, try turning the master EQ power fully off and back on (top right). Sometimes the audio session is lost. This will attempt to re-acquire it.
- Legacy mode overrides Better Audio Detection
See what's running
- On the home screen, press the 3-dot menu in the top right and select Status. Also, it can be normal for things to not be active if no music is playing.
